Denise Wilkie Completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program

Denise Wilkie, President of Stay at Home in Little Compton, Inc. was among the fourth cohort of 24 graduates who completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses at Community College of Rhode Island. Their cohort graduated on December 20, 2017.

Stay at Home in Little Compton is a not-for-profit organization that offers personalized care to local senior citizens. Their mission is to provide the best quality in-home care to insure our clients can remain in the comfort of their own homes for as long as safely possible.

“10,000 Small Businesses has given me the opportunity to step outside my day-to-day operations and take a look and how to improve and attain sustainable growth. Since the start of the program, Stay at Home has been working on a plan to offer new services to help those afflicted with cognitive impairment including Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s and Memory Loss.”

The business executives spent 12 weeks - roughly 100 class hours - at the Community College of Rhode Island studying a business and management curriculum designed by Babson College and delivered by Community College of Rhode Island faculty. The curriculum covered accounting, human resources, negotiation and marketing, among other topics. The program also included one-on-one business advising, accounting workshops and advice from Goldman Sachs professionals. Applications for 10,000 Small Businesses are reviewed by Goldman Sachs and CCRI professionals. The program is open to business owners or Chief Executive Officers from the Greater Rhode Island region.                         DISCUSSION AND SUPPORT FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS

Do you provide care for a loved one, or do you know someone who does? The Wellness Center is starting a second discussion and support group for family members who have assumed that role, led by volunteer Jana Porter, LICSW. Our first group has been very successful, bringing people together to share concerns and ideas and decreasing the stress and isolation caregivers can feel.

If you are interested or would like more information, please call Program Director Marsha Riccardi at the Wellness Center, 592-0400.
